In the kingdom of llama and flamingo

We just finished our four-day tour through the salt flats of Salar de Uyuni and the Reserva Eduardo Avaroa in the south-western Bolivia. The trip was fantastic and the scenery simply out of this world. We saw volcanoes, geysers, salt deserts and multi-coloured lagoons with llamas, flamingoes and chinchillas strolling around them. It was quite cold at times as we were above 4000m above the sea level most of the time and even slept at close to 4500m once… But we survived the cold and had a great time! Strangely enough, some of the places reminded us of Australia and New Zealand. Just check out the pictures below.

Thanks to Mika and Antoine for making the trip even better and teaching us how to play backgammon :)

We’re now at Lake Titicaca, from where we’re going to cross onto Peru tomorrow and see it from the other side. We’ll post an update in a few days’ time…
